Kids love meatballs! These are simple enough for them to make. They are more moist than just the ground meat cooked by itself.
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground turkey or ground beef
1 large egg
1 slice wheat bread
2 tablespoons milk
dried Italian herbs, like oregano, thyme, or basil, to taste
spaghetti or other pasta for the number of mouths to feed (1 pkg of spaghetti usually feeds four)
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups pasta sauce (easiest from a jar of pasta sauce)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
Start some water boiling on the stove in a large saucepan.
In a medium bowl, pour the milk over the bread slice to soften it. Add ground meat, egg, and salt. Mix well to combine.
Shape about 1 teaspoon of the meat mixture into little meatballs, one at a time. Carefully, put the meatballs into the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. (Boiling the meatballs helps them stay together, as opposed to frying). Lift them out with a slotted spoon and drain.
Cook the pasta and drain well. Arrange (spread out) on a serving dish.
Heat the pasta sauce in the microwave, covered with a paper towel.
Pour the sauce over the spaghetti or other pasta. Place the meatballs on top all over the pasta. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese and serve.
